Question 1. I have AVG (free) anti virus and Windows Firewall. Do you think I should now download Spyware Terminator and Zone Alarm (or just one of them). If I do this should I first remove Windows Firewall or just turn it off at the control panel.? |
|
Answer 1. Spyware Terminator- Yes. Update it and run it through on a regular
basis say once a week. Zone Alarm- If you are on broadband and not on a "router or wireless router system" or networked at home, you would be well served to install it. If you install Zone Alarm then turn off the Windows firewall at the Control Panel. |
| Question 2. When I went to check my programs I found I had Mozilla Firefox already installed. Should I retain or remove? |
| Answer 2. Leave it on and you can configure it to use it, as well as Internet Explorer. It then becomes a matter of choice, not necessity. |
| Question 3. I am running XP and have been using Outlook Express, but changed to Thunderbird on recommendation. But later went back to OE and found that a hell of a lot of mail had come in, 800 messages in fact and of those each message repeated four times. |
|
Answer 3. First of all make sure that you only have one
Email Client open at a time, otherwise mail can be received by either one alternatively. I think it is a good idea to only use one
client so not to confuse yourself. To delete the files within each folder- Open each folder singularly, then Highlight each message by holding the CTRL button and clicking on each message you wish to delete. When all highlighted go to File/ Delete. After each folder is empty you can then delete the Folder if you wish. These will all appear in the Deleted Items folder and you can the delete these by going to "Edit/ "Empty the Deleted files" |
