Our History

Our club was formed on the 14th June 1984 as a Men's Probus Club.   It was the first Probus Club formed in the Southern Highlands, and has continued to be a very successful club since that date.
Membership of the club is limited to 104, and there is always a waiting list of prospective members.
The club has always been active, enjoying regular outings, dinners and excursions.
It is an interesting club which is renowned for the high standard of meetings and guest speakers.

10 minute Club speaker for July

A note received from Tom Currie
"One of our members, John Darling is now residing in Harbison Moss Vale, Room 38 Mandemar wing.  John is doing very well but misses stimulating conversation with "the outside world". As such he would appreciate a visit from his old Probus and Legacy friends any time they are passing by."

September Meeting 27/09/10

The speaker for our Military History meeting on September 27th will be Nick Elmer, an ex Royal Australian Navy and Royal Netherlands Navy officer. Nick will speak to us on the Battle of Salamis. A short description follows....
"The Battle of Salamis, in 480BC, was one of the most important battles in history. The victory by the Greeks under Themistocles insured that Xerxes would be forced to retreat to Persia. The battle would lay the foundation for an Athenian Empire that would come to be called the Delian League.
This battle was fought using various types of galleys and provides a deep insight into how these war machines were employed. "
